Tony Carrasco has focused a new vision for the busy arterial road as a tree-lined boulevard with a sense of place. The new urban design would be a tree-lined main street, with shops of interest to neighbors, pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, a wealth of trees, more congruent architecture and a safe environment for bicyclists. In other words, El Camino would become a destination with mature shade trees on widened sidewalks along a continuous facade of two to three story buildings.
